Banpei, can we automate this somehow?

That is if a user signs up but hasn't activated his account within 30 days he gets a message asking him if something went wrong with his signup and that if the account is not activated withint 30 more days that it will be removed (so the user has 60 days in which to activate his account).

Similarly if a user has signed up but has not accessed the website for more then x days we may want to sent him a message automatically. I am hasitent to delete these accounts though. I took a brake from rx7club.com when I bought the hachi, wouldn't want it if my account would have suddenly be removed..

Euh, I'll have to see about that. But I guess that's a possibility. Smile

Would require some programming though. Wink

I would have to agree with Mux, I've moved forums because of owning another car. I'd delete the people with zero posts. If they want to participate they can always sign back up.

You are right about that: as long as their username exist on our forum they cannot reapply for the same username. Otherwise if I delete them they can reapply for enlisting.

To be honest: I rather not delete people who do not come back after a while: the user will be not be there anymore and all posts done by them will appear as "Guest".

Might be a better solution to just keep the users, but set them to inactive. If they want to activate their user again they have to reapply for an activation url...

I dont think we should ever deactivate accounts of people who've posted. They may just be taking a brake, it happens.

People who do not finish their signon after a month or two should be removed. People who never post, I dont know, there are many users who simply read along and dont feel like writing, thats fine by me aswell..

Then I'll work on that. Shouldn't be that much work. Wink

I've created a script which deletes users which did not activate their account after 2 months. Current status: 11 users were deleted. Byebye... Wave

If they don't confirm the email sent in the first place their account will not be enabled anyway. And if they don't confirm within two months I recon they did not receive their email. I get once in every four or five days an error from mail being sent to non existent adressess.

How is the signup? I can't recall if you have to enter you emailadress twice to get a confirmation on that the adress is right. You have surelly seen this on other sites, if we don't have it here, we should.
