Weber 45's & starlet distributer info
Hi,
Ive got a 4-AGE which has been setup to run on carbs. previously it was on Mikuni's but they needed a rebuild and parts are getting harder and harder to find so i went with a new set of 45 Weber's. I can get the engine to run but it is very hard to keep alive and is popping quite alot from the carbs could this be something to do with the jetting or more to do with the timing of the dizzy? The current setup of my Weber's are: CHOKE - 36mm AUX VENTURI - 4.5 EMULSION TUBE - F16 MAIN JET - 140 AIR CORRECTION JET - 175 IDLE JET - F11/50 PUMP JET - 35 This is mainly based on the "Carburetors for the 4A-GE" in the reference section but this i think that was for a Weber 40 not a 45, will this make a difference? If anyone have any info on a better jet setup for a stock 4-AGE if this might be cause. Thanks |

Mines the same, very hard to keep running, heal toeing at lights etc to stop the car and keep the engine running. I generally thought it stalling lots was to do with the cams I'm running( big lumpy)
Will be watching this to see how you fix it, I've come up blank. |

i think its possibly because there so out of sync combined with the possibility that the timing might be out a fraction.
I think I'm also gonna check my gasket to make sure its not leaking. |

Gaskets have been sealed and timing altered unfortunately the popping has lessened but not gone totally.
Also discovered that the dizzy is a stock 4-AGE so i can only lock it at the mo which isn't ideal. So if anyone knows of somewhere i can get a starlet dizzy from that would be great  |

Hi,
I have a few of them, but won´t be going in my garage soon... The´re all the early type, with just one vacuum port. Had this pic on my computer: [/img] 1979 Toyota Corolla KE35 1983 Toyota Corolla AE86 1985 Toyota Corolla AE86 |

They seem to be super rare. I think it might be quicker to go with a MSD setup then

The late type K-dizzy with 2 vacuum ports (2nd on for emission crap) could easily be sourced in NZ, for next to nothing.
But I think a mapable ign ist a must have if you want to get the most from your carbs! 1979 Toyota Corolla KE35 1983 Toyota Corolla AE86 1985 Toyota Corolla AE86 |

Yeah, I have a Megajolt setup on my other car but it was a hassle setting it up.
Most people seem to go with the MSD as you can keep the original 4AGE dizzy. My old AE86 was on FCR carbs with an MSD which seemed to work ok. i just need the right timing control system to go with my MSD A6. i came across this which seems to be ok: http://www.msdignition.com/Products/RPM/...etard.aspx |
