4AGE crankcase gas and oil pressure too high, sprinking oil
Hi All!
I have an MR2 with a 4AGE engine (from 1986, first generation, AW11) After some months suddenly it started to sprinkle oil from the crankcase gas outlet port. The oil will start to burn, and indicates it with "nice" white smoke. After this happened I realised that the oil pressure is still too high. Now I have directed this crankcase gas to the air cleaner case, so it stopped smoking, but I am affraid that this oil will go inside the air cleaner, and can make bigger problems later. Moreover the biggest problem for me, is that I do not know the root cause of this problem, as my car didn't do that before last week. It came suddenly. Do you guys have any guess and/or suggestion to solve it, and identify the root cause? Any more questions are welcome! I can take some photos later. Thank you! Best Regards! Attis |

Get a compression test done on the engine. If one cylinder is a lot
less than the others, you either have a rings problem or a blown head gasket. Cheers... jondee86 |

I agree with jondee (that rhymes ).
Sounds like you've lost compression on a piston, probably stuck/broken piston rings. If the engine still idles it's probably not too far gone yet. The nr.4 cylinder is usually the first to go... Get the compression checked as jondee suggested, I would advise not driving it too much until you know what's wrong. FABRICA MI DIEM, PVNC! |

How's the engine running? Is it running rough or just normal and only blowing smoke?

Hi guys!
Thanks for the valueable comments for everyone. I will do the compression check, and hope it will show me the cause. bozu: The engine is running nice, as normally. I will come back with the results. Thank you, attis |
