Maybe problem with TRD shock absorber and springs
Hi, I have a Ae86 levin imported from Japan.
I found in it the TRD Shock Absorber (front and rear) ,Trd Springs, (i think) Trd Stabilizer Bars and front coilover(i don'r know the brand).
I have the idea that the car it's too hard, every little thing that I found on the street (like remnants of the asphalt ) I warn it when I drive.
Maybe that the shock absorber it's too old and need to regenerate/change?
only for ad idea of the height of the car i have this recent photo:

the height it's 10cm

Anyone have any idea?

Sorry for my bad english.

Sounds like everything is OK, fortunately or not, car is simply configured for good and flat roads and to be driven hard.
It's a pitty that doesn't suit your style or roads in your area.

I think it's normal, I have the same thing. Your suspension is designed for performance on the track, not road comfort. It feels fine on a smooth road right? Japanese are lucky they have such great infrastructure, sometimes it feels like i'm in a blender when I drive on an old road.

But yeah, you'll get used to it soon enough Smile

If you "play" with the adjustments(adjustable TRD shocks??) you may get the set up a bit more compliant... but stiff springs are tough to modulate as well as correctly dampen

Mattolo Wrote:Maybe that the shock absorber it's too old and need to regenerate/change?

Unbolt the rear shocks from their lower mount & just let them hang, 4 minutes max.
Now bounce the car and you'll really get to see what it's like with 100% bad shocks.
Is it anything the same as when the shocks are attached or is it completely different?

So what!

I'll try it, and try to regulate the rear shock absorber in a soft regulation
If i remeber, the rear shock have three grade of regulation, but i don't remeber in which regulation it's now.
Another thing, some times seems that the car make some "little jump"(i don't know the exact english term), maybe the LSD or shock absorber?
The LSD it's a little noise, but the oil should be fine; otherwise I don't know if the LSD it's OEM or not.
I should unmount it Big Grin

Both my brother and i have coilovers on our cars. And we have the same thing, it's comfortable on smooth roads but bouncy on bad roads.

When you're driving it around for a few weeks you won't even notice it anymore.

ok, I'll try to regolate the rear shock absorber from 4 to 1, both in uphill and downhill nothing changed.
Any ideas?
