krullibull Wrote:How about a turbo 4age? Rarely see this and would make a good improvement while keeping the care pure then you have endless gearbox problems as t50 is not made for such things. SR20DET or good CA18DET is bang for bucks at the moment. Drifting - best fun you can have in your car with your pants on! |

sr20det,you can put any ca18/sr20det gearbox on it,i broke 2 boxes in 3 year(340bhp/435nm)easy to score parts, cheap to get a rear axle from a hyundai h100 van,i NEVER broke anything from that axle,so if you can weld and you can make things yourself,DO IT!!!!!
like zax...bang for the buck drift ae86:308bhp/435nmEDIT:384pk/498nm!!!!>now DEATH))) |

Yes.. but you'll rip the soul out of it. To be honest, for pure enjoyment I would go NA. For drift performance there is a lot of sense in a turbo swap.
I personally have problems liking my CA18DET hachi because of the way the engine responds.. totally changes the car. But it will blow the socks off of many fast cars. FABRICA MI DIEM, PVNC! |

Yes, thats my biggest concern with turbocharging too...I dont want to kill the idea of the 86...
But I found some BEAMS 86 drifting vids on youtube and it just doesnt seem that much stronger/faster than my blacktop... AE86 GT - SR20DET BlackTop //// Trackday beater Citroen C4 Coupe VTR - 1.6HDi //// Streetcar |

7AGTE if you want to keep A series in your car.
SR20DET if you want power for the money. I'v driven 4AGTE, had 7AFTE / 3SGE beams (both - r Redtop and Blacktop), SR20DET - and honestly - nothing compares to SR20DET in Money / power ratio... really. At my point of view - i just dont understand all these Beams engine swaps - its just not worth it IMHO Especialy black top - as much hastle it involves into all the swap - it doesnt backs up all the work with the power it has. I had Altezza SXE10 which came with 3SGE beams in it as stock - and i could compare my Redtop Beams that i had in my Celica SSIII - and honestly RedTop felt more alive - maybe cuz of the FWD and that it wasnt loosing so much power throu the gearbox / shaft / diff - but redtop was more alive... SR20DET - you have 280hp easily with few simple mods. Add different turbo - boost controler - and you are at 350 mark. LOTS of aftermarket, easily tunible - so why take all the hastle for somthing that will not give you POWER (if you want it)... +1 for what doggy said.
If the engine is a tool: SR20DET If it is also a fashion accessory: stock blacktop or F20/22 I'm doing both A wheel to steer the front of the car A pedal to steer the rear |
