hachiroll`s rust&lowcompressionrolla project
Because one of the intake valves is bent, valve guides are also damaged and the exhaust valves are corroded and they are nearly impossible to clean even with a sandpaper I am thinking of buying new valves, springs.
I dont know if I should buy oversized valves or normal size valves. What company makes some good quality valves, springs and valve seals? Is there anyone else than Supertech? Could you give me some links where to buy some valve/spring kit for a good price and also some good complete gasket kit. Thanks |

Exhaust valves take some time to clean, no need to be gentle with them.
I takes me about 15-20 min to get them from your state to mirror finish. So if your´e going to throw them away I´d like to take them!!! This is going to cost some serious money if you really want to buy everything new. Maybe a good 2nd hand head with good valves might be better? Anyway, not sure what your plans are, but stock diameter valves are allright for most applications. As for supertech, the do nice valves. I could not find a different company selling valves for 4AGE´s, not even Mahle. I bought my springs from HKS they´re only like 125€ from fensport: http://www.fensport.co.uk/Parts/Model_3/...ry_12/1248 I bought 3 of these sets, the´re allright, but I´d advise to buy a genuine Toyota headgasket (44€). http://www.ebay.com/itm/85-89-TOYOTA-COR...2eb86f90d3 This set also includes the head screws, but I´d rather buy them here in Europe to save customs tax. Just take a look at ebay motors.com there are plenty of fulll gasket set for 4age, look at the pictures/ description and make sure they´re branded "ERISTIC", I even think eristic gaskets runs a ebay store... edit: http://stores.ebay.com/eristicgaskets 1979 Toyota Corolla KE35 1983 Toyota Corolla AE86 1985 Toyota Corolla AE86 |

Thanks for advice. I am not planning to throw them away, but if I will you are first on the list...
By the way what do you use to polish/or ''mirror finish'' the valves? Just sandpaper and a drill or also some polishing paste and angle grinder with polishing disc? |

I put some tape on the shaft, mount it to a post drill.
Scrape off the crust, start with 80-120-260-320-400-600-800-1000-1500 grid sandpaper and finish with metallpolish. All manual 15-20min each valve 1979 Toyota Corolla KE35 1983 Toyota Corolla AE86 1985 Toyota Corolla AE86 |

fax0815 Wrote:Exhaust valves take some time to clean, no need to be gentle with them. Im in doubts The eristic full gasket set costs 115 dolars which is 85 euro. But you got to pay the 20% VAT and 10%customs tax and shipping so you will end up somewhere around 110euro without shipping. But you still got to buy oem headgasket which costs around 40euro. So you will end somewhere around 170 euro with shipping and oem gasket. On toyodiy the gasket kit is priced 211 euro but I can get mabe 10% dicount so you will end up somewhere around 190eur with oem kit. But you will have oem quality. I would like to know what does oem kit include but I am not able to recognize it from toyodiy. Mostly I would like to know if the oem kit includes valve seals. Hi, damn they must have had a massive price increase. I paid 150€ plus shipping for 3 full sets in 2010. I sold one to my mates for 75€ and was all inclusive (customes/ 50% shipping).
Since they´re so expensive there is no point in buying stuff from USA, you will also need a pair of rocker cover gaskets that fit (16€) its almost as expensive as the Toyota OEM kit. The OEM full kit does include the valve steam seals, so does the valve grind kit. 1979 Toyota Corolla KE35 1983 Toyota Corolla AE86 1985 Toyota Corolla AE86 |

As you can see on previous page, engine block is fckd up so it will need reboring, so I cant use the standard size pistons again. I am looking for some oversized pistons. But I wasnt able to find oversized pistons with 18mm pin on ebay, because all of them are 20mm pin. Can somebody give me advice for something cheap and also for some forged ones that have been proved to be good.
Thanks |

I had the same problem and bought some sh** ebay pistons from the US, 70€ the lot O/S 18mm wrist pin. Still holding together and my engine gets "used" once its reached operating temperature.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Geo-Toyota-1-6L-...5641576865 Chould be them, just ask the seller for the dia of the pin. Keep looking and asking, they are out there... They are not premium products, but do the job and are a lot cheaper than genuine Toyota ones. I also thought about forged pistons, Wiseco was the only brand I could find with 18mm pin, they were even a little cheaper than the genuine Toyota pistons 1979 Toyota Corolla KE35 1983 Toyota Corolla AE86 1985 Toyota Corolla AE86 |

Pretty cheap
If you buy one and let us know what´s the quality like. Btw, these are the pistons I´m running in my engine. They will lower the compression ratio. I´d also recomend the ACL bearings. Cheers, Max. 1979 Toyota Corolla KE35 1983 Toyota Corolla AE86 1985 Toyota Corolla AE86 |
