Why should it give problems, me and friends of mine have done lots of trackdays with Subaru's and they all went home driving.
The only thing that could cause problems is with the oil pickup but that is with almost every standard engine, if you want to remedy that you need a dry-sump.

Changing sparkplugs isn't easy but that is no reason for slating the engine.
