E.T. For 86???

Hello!

I want to clear things up in my head with thist E.T. thingy.. I do understand that 0 offset would mean that the rim is bolted to the hub at the dead center right? more positive ET, and the rim centre "mesh" comes more out, the wheel actually goes more under the car; more negative ET, the rim becomes more deep "dished", so th track width is actually bigger. yes?

so what is the correct ET for a 86? what are those values +3,0, -3 are those cms? can somebody clear this confusion up for me?

ET measurement is in millimeters, the correct offset for the AE86 is ET21 (thats the offset on the original rims)

Offset +35 and more will be unusual without using spacers.

ET30 rims wont fit to the front, but they will on the back..I would say stick to ET 0-20 rims and you cant go wrong. Watch out with large sizes though, 0 offset 14" rims with a nice amount of lowering will only work with 185 width tires, and possibly some modifications to the edge of the fenders.

The stock 14" rims is ET 27... I saw the list at a toyota dealer today to compare AE86 and KP62

so if i put on like ET 0 to 20 rims it would come nicely out to the edge of the fenders.. i hate when rims are tucked under the fenders..

Perhaps there was different offsets with the different rims? Mine is for sure ET21

That doesn't have to be the case. you probably mean that the wheel will rub the shocks/springs. That depends not only on the ET, but also on the width of the rim. A ET40 rim that is just 4 cm wide will not have a problem at al (exagerating, but you get my point).
Thats why you should always mention rim width along ET. More serious companies use backspacing which is a combination of the two.
