any AE86 for sale?
Yeah...the seller is the guy with the 2800 euro coupe with the TFTF sticker on the dash. I hate digital gauges though...The novelty wears off pretty soon and then your left with a hard to read display. I've seen those things before in opel kadett GSI's so they arent very special anymore either.

robotype Wrote:Price is not interesting and if it burns too much oil the problem could be serious. Also I prefer the 3door definitely so I will extend my patience like I did in the last 5 years...do they have 3doors Levins in Portugal or which other models? No Truenos around in Europe?

Stefano,

There's no Truenos in Europe, only Japanese imports.

If you really want a 3-door in rust-free condition, then you could try to find an importer of Japanese cars in Italy to source and import one over for you. It will be expensive, but generally the Japanese cars are well looked after and rust-free. They are also graded to their condition.

A couple of friends of mine over here have imported AE86's and they are two of the finest examples I have ever seen, with lots of nice parts on as well.

They cost around £4,500 GBP total to buy, import, register, taxes etc etc, which is what you would pay in the UK for a fairly good standard car.

Depending on what you want, it can really be worth it.

Well, Hellenbrand had one imported from the US, but I am not sure about if it were an AE86 or AE92. Besides that: they asked too much for it already without having the car actually registered in Holland.

US market AE86's aren't worth the bother since they have heavy and ugly DOT spec bumpers and choking emissions crap...

All this could be removed/replaced though (at a cost) and they are LHD for the Euro convenience. Most examples from the hotter, salt-free states are rust-free too.

Yes I have seen those japanese imports on ebay uk but I really need the LHD and also I don't know how to import from uk to Italy.

I am very interested in the various model differences all over the world,
I could never understand much about this. Probably the Japanese GT-apex and GT-V are the best absolutely but what do they have more than
the european models? Air-conditioning...?

Some time ago I wanted to import a GT-S from Canada but it was too expensive and also very difficult to do the italian papaers so after I knew ae86 was available in Europe as well I gave-up and started looking for one here...takes a while though...

but actually I didn't know the US models have all those penalities...
Is that emission thing easy to remove? Is it in the engine? I could install
my ae92 engine in that case...

Stefano,

If you need help getting a car to Italy from the UK, I would help all I can at this end.

I think the GT-V is essentially the same spec as a UK/Euro model ie LSD, manual windows, no PAS.

The GT-Apex has electric windows, aircon and PAS. This version is heavier but slightly easier to drive cos of the power steering. It's the soft version for long-haired big girls like Pazza who are not man enough for proper steering, windy windows and hot weather

Both are lovely really though; the GT-Apex would be nicer and more plush for daily road use.

Then you've got the difference between early and late models. Late's have nicer interiors, nicer bumpers, nicer 14" wheels, thicker halfshafts (and different diff config), different instrument panel design etc etc. But they've also got the dreaded rust creating wheel arch trims.

Did you actually take a look at the portugese site I mentioned earlier? Yes the prices are steep, but they are 3 door models. One has sat in a garage for most of its life and the other has around 120.000kms on the odometer. I think you'd better take a look.

A wheel to steer the front of the car
A pedal to steer the rear

Yes I tried to contact them and I put an ad myself but no reply,
probably because I am writing in English...
I don't know anybody who speaks portoguese here except some brazilian transvestites down in the street, I am sure they are able to trans-late..
Anyway I'll try harder.
