Yeah I would be interested, they are much cheaper than some other dog boxes.
Do you have to supply them with T-50 to start with?...and can they be made not sequential but H pattern?

There is a guy in CHCH that makes dog gear kits for the T50, Don Mathias.

Hi Lyndon and welcome !

Sadly not a dog 'box but it's 6 speed, has a 1-1 6th is alloy cased
and fits a Ford type 9 bellhousing.
The ratios are ideal for a 4-AGE too:

1st: 2.69
2nd: 2.01
3rd: 1.59
4th: 1.32
5th: 1.13
6th: 1.00

They look like an awesome bit of kit but unfortunately my car will need to comply with Classic regulations for rallying in Nz...therefore I have to run a 5 speed.
I would love to someday run a 6 speed sequential though and just compete as a 1600cc and 2wd overall

If someone could engineer a higher first gear for the T50 it would
actually be a very good close ratio gearbox for motorsport use.

Something like a 2.6 1st gear instead of 3.587

They still have a 1:1 4th gear and an overdriven 5th but with a 5:1 or 5:3 diff they are ok for rallying.
Most track guys use the 4:77 ratio.
When my last Ae86 was dyno'd with a 4:77 it was doing 205kmh in 4th gear at 8,200rpm...rev limiter was set at 8,500rpm.
5th gear was useless.

Back in the day when they could be sourced easily the competitive
teams were changing 5.375 ratios regularly, every three rallies typically



The differential cooler helped to some degree but the low ratio remained a
problem until the end.

Maybe with modern oils etc. they're not such a problem anymore ?

I'm running a 4.778 in my tarmac rally car with either a standard T50 or a Quaife Ford type 9
The ratios in the Quaife 'box are still a bit too high for the final drive even
with 200 / 53 /13 tyres
A 5.1 would be much better, probably with the T50 too.
