RCA are not only good to clear the brakes but also for geometry (that's why they're actually made for)

In anyway right now it feels ok, once I lower the car more (in April) I'll see how the angles are and probably fit some then, for now I'm satisfied. AE86 ex-daily |

Since I was thinking about extending the LCAs for more wheel clearence on my own car I tried my wheel with 35mm spacer.
15x8 Et0 with Federal 195/50 so they are more like 205/50 Thought that it might be some help to you! |

It is indeed! Thank you. I plan to run Federal 595RS-R (for some reason they are cheaper than the regular 595s you have). Those should be a tad bit wider still but not much. And I'm happy to run them. Haven't seen rain in what feels like and almost is ages.
Currently my tires (185/60R14 Falken Ziex something) are flush with the arch using the Corona LCAs and 25mm spacers on a 14x6 ET20 wheel. Got the Federal 595 (non RS-R) on the back. I'll have to chat with a friend and see if he can bring me a pair of wheel and tires in march. Then I can properly test it all and shape the arches. AE86 ex-daily |

few more pictures:
finally got around having my spare block bored and honed to suit the custom pistons - worked out really great (considering the circumstances) and everything is within tolerances with max differences of ~0.01mm. AE86 ex-daily |

After 3 years since the start of this thread and lots of plan changes I thought it’s time for a condensed flashback. So join me in a trip with the virtual time machine
So I purchased my car back in 2006, a few weeks before I met my now wife, to replace my S13 daily as at that time I still had my ‘to be’ race car. The car had ~70k km on the engine and was mint apart from a small battle scar it still wears proudly. It received a set of Cusco adjustable topmounts within the first few months and was then just treated with regular services. At the end of May 2007 the headgasket decided to blow out a chunk between cylinder 3 and 4. So I used the opportunity to clean up some of the casting marks and put it back together. For the next two years the car remained original apart from Project μ B-Spec brake pads and some Defi gauges, which I picked up during a trip to Japan. Early 2009 I then fitted Tocico HTS 112 dampers along with Apex springs. At the end of 2009 my life changed considerably again as we started our live abroad and we moved to Brussels for one year, hence the new name of my car ‘The globetrotter’. It was a harsh winter and my radiator decided to split the top tank so it got replaced with a Koyo Type-S and received a set of Cusco engine mounts at the same time. Later on I also fitted a proper steering wheel and a Innovate LC1 wideband lambda As we decided to keep living abroad I got rid of all my other cars (S13, Soarer and Fiesta) I still had stored back in Switzerland. I learned another big lesson there and then as the little money I got back from the sales never made up for what I had spent but as with most of us, we get wiser with age or so we hope. Next stop was Khartoum, where I am now for another few months I replaced all the bushings and did some other refurbishments (BMC, starter, calipers, dizzy) but for quite a while I was planing on some power related mods (already sourced some ITBs and other parts). I intensified my research and came up with various plans which all changed back and forth (Beams or 16V was the question) and I ended up with the later due to bureaucratic and logistical reasons. Now instead to go through all the plan changes I post what really happened. A 7-rib block (with squirters), new oil pump and a set of COPs traveled from France through Switzerland to Sudan - thanks roiz86 I tracked down a virgin smallport head in the US which passed by oldeskewltoy (thanks for EVERYTHING and see you soon), to work his magic before it also traveled here with a detour in Switzerland - did I mention logistics in this country are a nightmare? The head work can be found here posted by the master himself http://www.aeu86.org/viewtopic/ost-013-m...29/t/11862 Taking advantage of exchange rate more parts have been sourced in the US and forwarded including the following custom JE pistons to my specifications custom connecting rods to suit the lighter 40mm crank and 20mm pin pistons Megasquirt DIYPNP standalone ECU from DIYAutotune (still need to finish this) now to cut size down a bit I leave out the pictures, which can be all found here T3 ITB adapter manifold, Fidanza 212mm flywheel, smallport fuel rail, RWD water necks and new water pump, cam covers, complete Toyota engine gasket set, various nuts, bolts and other small parts that are bolted to the engine. Reason behind this is that I want to have a more or less complete engine to reduce the amount of parts I need to remove from the original one. So where am I now? The head received it’s Supertech valves, springs and titanium retainers. 1SZ-FE solid lifters were fitted to manufacturer specifications to suit the Catcams 7105138 (might change these once the engine is tuned and had a visit to a dyno), which are completed with some adjustable TODA gears. The block has been rebored and honed to match the custom pistons and awaits a new lick of paint, a little porting and it’s future internals. Meanwhile the crank is in Switzerland being balanced along with the flywheel and lightweight crank pulley (got some underdrive pulley for water and alternator to go with that - thanks aussiefan). Once I get it back I can order the proper TRD bearings and fit it all together. There is still plenty to do (more track width, wheels, fenders and more suspension refinement) before this is finished and I’m not sure if my time in this country will be enough. I’ll keep working on the car step by step in the next country anyway AE86 ex-daily |

Aram Wrote:Cool story! fingers crossed I can take it with me. Their law only allows cars younger than 2 or older than 30 to be imported but hopefully they will make an exception as I and the car will only be there temporarily and my car is almost old enough. AE86 ex-daily |

UPDATE:
I just got confirmed that the globetrotter will definitely travel with me once more so that'll be country #4 (of residence - visited more than that with it) a new pair of wheels (Rota GridV in 15x8ET0 and Federals 595RS-R) just arrived in Switzerland for testing and if it goes well will order another pair later. Crank has been balanced and reworked along with the flywheel and pully to 10'000rpm and µg level (yeah that's no typo). All should get back here with incl. wheels just when I leave for holiday. So stay tuned for more progress in April/Mai/June when temps here rise to 50°C again AE86 ex-daily |
