Hello again!
Inspired by your way of refining LSD I dismounted mine and led me some research.

I found out that all three plates have different thickness.

... namely:

And I have my first question: if I buy a new pair of inner plates (the ones that have thickness of 2.45 mm) and replace them outer plates. increasing the overall thickness from 6.15 mm to 6.9mm.

Will this thickening bring a tougher wheel lock?

Judging by this katolog, outer plate thickness can be changed... from 1,6 to 1,85mm.

With a little thought, I realized that the increase in thickness will NOT increase the rigidity of the lock. Right?

I still have to give original plates to the aircraft factory to produce 4 new plates.

Question:
1. What TOTAL thickness is the goal???

2. Which of the three (eared #1, #2, #4) plates in the photo must be in the middle, between the plates #3 and #5? I understand the most subtle, is it? #2, right?

Because the teethes for these (#3, #5) plates, on the satellite, are not so widely...

it's hard to measure... but I think it's width more than 2 and less then 3 milliliters.

I'll try to measure it tomorrow...

Great the thought become true. As I said before. The increasing in thickness doesn't bring you more agresive locking, it bring you only the problem , that the diff is locked even if you don't touch the thortle or push the clutch!! n It feels more like welded diff.

The top plate without the thicknes was left OEM about 1,6.. In my case I had the total thickness about 6,45, but first 10km it felt like welded. It is better to leave it something like 6,3mm.

MAke the total thickness 0,1 - 0,2mm more than what you had when disassembled.


Most important to make sure you have both plates with inner teeth on the teeth you just measured above..


Important is to understand and you understand that perfectly..

if these teeth are really that narrow my concern would be putting too much stress on their edge when fitting additional plates.

I have had same worry, but it is working 2 years 1 season with ported Blacktop. and one season with F20C.. This winter I am planing to open it as prevention to see what condition the diff is.

Got my new, lazer cut, clutch plates from this plant http://eng.zmturbines.com/

They were made from 2mm steel with code "65Г" that is the same as:

Quote:USA - 1066, 1566, G15660
GERMANY - 66Mn4, Ck67
ENGLAND - 080A67
CHINA - 65Mn
BULGARIA - 65G
POLAND - 65G

In the future, we will measure and calculate the necessary thickness of each of these plates.

But I have two questions:

1. Do I need to anneal (ignite) this plates?

If the description of the steel grade indicated that it is used for the clutch plates.

In the abstract to this grade of steel this were written:

Quote:The use of industrial: springs, springs, thrust washers, brake bands, friction plates, gears, flanges, bearing housing, clamping and feed collets, and other details which are required durability, and parts operating without impact.

2. Do I have the presence of the groove for the oil on the friction planes?
Or they reduce friction, giving oil to the friction zone?

And I weighed each of the plates.... I do not know why.
