Stock Bigport Engine + ITB?s?!
Andrax Wrote:the opportunity to keep upgrade the engine with no limits. Ummmmm..... No....... OEM ITBs only have so much they are adequate for... then you move on to something like TRD throttles... and then you hit another wall... so you move away from ITBs and go for slide throttles.... And once you hit the wall with slide throttles... you move on to barrel throttles So... DON'T believe everything people tell you.... do your research. As Bean Bandit point out... I making somewhere between 165 - 170hp on a single OEM throttle body Dan - You can | .... OR you can ask for help!!! OST Porting service - http://hachiroku.net/forums/showthread.php?t=19991 |

Thanks for your post oldeskewltoy. Really nice draws on CAD!
I was referring to the engine management. Let's say the use of the itbs are more an excuse to go for free tune engine management. I know after that we need to go for expensive engine hardware, but I don't plan to build any highly tuned 4age. Anyway its incredible how you achieved 165-170hp with stock TB, but I know its possible. I would be happy to reach the same mark! Maybe I'll need some advice to port the head (I have one already ported for someone else) so I need to know if its fine or I need to start from the beginning. And the other small tricks that makes the difference to push some more hp from his engine! Thanks |

Stock Bigport Engine + ITB?s?!
just for your info , I put some ae101 itbs on my bigport with catcams 260° / 252° 9.00 / 8.50mm (these are for stock head) with the martelius header and exhaust running on haltech ecu. I got something like 152hp. spend a lot of money and time. I wanted the response and sound of itbs but I guess would not do it again well car is somehow street legal in my country, only reason I did not go for other cams, higher compression pistons and keeping the good ol tvis.

In the 4AGE community there seems to be two kinds of people... those
who believe bigger is better no matter what, and those who believe size doesn't matter... it's how you use what you've got  If you want bragging rights at the dyno, you have two choices... pour a big heap of cash into a N/A engine, or slap on a big turbo. Either way you are liable to end up with a peaky engine that is really only at home on a race track... not that there is anything wrong with that The other kind of people are not much concerned with how much power they make. They want to improve one or more aspects of their car to make it a better than it was, and more fun to drive. They want it handle on the streets of their city and look good while doing it. And when the opportunity presents, carve up backroads on a fine afternoon. You can do this with an honest 150hp at the wheels. But the one thing everyone has in common when messing around with underpowered and beaten up 25 year old cars, is the desire to do something for yourself. It does not have to make sense. There is intense satisfaction in modifying cars to test your own ideas. And this is how we learn... make mistakes... fix them, and one day drive that car you built out of the garage... It would be a boring world if everyone did the same thing !! Cheers... jondee86 |
