Blacktop engine rebuild
I am currently using a 4AGE 20v blacktop with a q16 vp racing fuel 116 octane and 10% oxygen, with custom mapping on a motec m400 and i have an out 175 hp at the crank, 115 whp.
Most probably i rebuild my engine. And i wanted to know what do you think about to put in the engine. Also i will be using 98 octane fuel with vp additive to raise to 102 or 109 octane. I am thinking of putting 1. Racing bearings mains and conrod 2. Camshafts about 278° 3. Valve springs and retainers ( JUN, TOMEI ) 4. Reinforced Bolts - Main Stud & Ladder Set (tomei) 5. Pistons 81.5 mm 11.5 or 12.0 comp.ratio (cp) 6. Trd gasket 0.8mm i would love to hear your ideas and experianses. Also i will be very pleased to sugest me brands and profiles for those items. Sorry for posting on track related subforum |

Blacktop engine rebuild
Hm if I would build a 20V I would do it like this:
- ACL or OEM bearings - Toda valve springs and 1NZFE solid buckets - ARP 2000 bolts on OEM conrods or full H-conrods from BC - Kelford 194-B Camshafts or Matrix Garage 272's - 12.1 CP pistons - TRD or Toda 0.8mm headgasket Daily Beater: Civic EG5 Work in progress Car: AE86 |

The TRD bearings are available thru TOM'S japan, I used to buy them. But you need very accurate measuring to be able to use the advantage of them (the 0,004mm size steps) Then if you set the clearances to 0,055-0,06mm you could free up some hp aswell..
D3nso - the 1nzfe lifters has nothing to do with the blacktop head, as they are smaller ;-) Hachirokkos - if you live in europe you should look after the Catcams also, they could be a lot cheaper then all the other ones, at least with the amount of the customs. I have for sale some blacktop racing parts, as I chaned my mind - I build 7AGE blacktop.. If you interested I have a TODA timing belt, new hydrauilic tensioner and new belt tensioner bearing, also a NEW AISIN (original Toyota) Oil Pump.. |

Didn't know that the 20V lifters are different. Never had a 20V head in my garage

Are these bearings strong enough to endure kms on the odometer or are they more race spec bearings? |

TRD sells them as "durability improved type" anything it means Only thing, for the main bearings, both halves are the same, so the bottom one has also groove for oil at the middle, so it has less space to hold the crank, and it has less friction aswell. here is the japanese TRD site with 20V engine parts. basically where you find price you can order it. There was an english version, but I don't find it now. http://www.trdparts.jp/parts_engine-4a-g20.html |
