Wow! Thanks Bean!
Looks like things are getting interesting... it's still far from being remotely as good or inspired as Initial D, I'm missing some personality in the characters. But it's good to see Shigeno is back to business, I love his drawing style on cars. |

Typset should be done by the end of the weekend. So_far_so_book translates the releases within 1-2 days or publishing and typset is another couple days. Usually we get the english version before the next one is out. Looking forward to next week when the race will be.

Shuichi Shigeno's new manga (and a car related one!)
They're doing an amazing job translating and publishing each chapter so quickly.
I'm liking the manga so far, the first race at Odawara was enjoyable to read... it took a bit to take off through these first chapters, but it was worth to see the ZN6 racing with the genuine Shigeno style. I'm not very fond of the girl's role, but that's some cultural discordance... Next race takes place at Lake Ashi (Ashinoko) which is also in Hakone. I'm wondering if all courses will be at Hakone, or will we see other areas through the Kanto region or maybe the whole country? As Initial D was focused in Kanto, I'd love to see some racing in other places in Japan. Of course I'd also like to see some old Initial D roads, but I don't think MFG cars are suitable to narrow mountain roads like those with its high HP output, big size and weight. Roads at Hakone are usually wider and well mantained with smooth pavement. |

Shuichi Shigeno's new manga (and a car related one!)
Hi Bean! Thanks for the link to the typeset!
I went to Haruna san as well, back in 2011... tons of good memories. We rented a car with my friends, an all-mighty Toyota Vitz 1.0 AWD in a weird grey with some pink-ish shade depending on the light (a manly car for sure, hahaha ), and headed to the top of the mountain on a rainy saturday night. We met a Suzuki Cappuccino and an Alto Works doing uphill and downhill runs. An Altezza came later and added to the party. There were also a big group of Silvias and Skylines doing some donuts and burnouts at the parking lot by the lake. It was a dream to me to see and experience these places in real life... Haruna san and the road itself, the lake, Ikaho machi, Shibukawa station, and some other places. Unfortunately, they had already demolished the tofu shop the year before But man, roads in Gunma sure are nice. I came back to Japan the last year, but didn't get to Gunma, instead I had the chance to visit Nagano (some amazing roads up there, I was very close to Usui touge but didn't had a car... sad, because Myogi san was also close) and Iroha Zaka in Nikko... which was a blast to experience, even from the bus, haha (first row, I must say ). We spent our budget for the car in a day trip we initially planned going by bus... but no seats available, so plan B was to rent a car to get us to the place. So no touge fun this time for me... next time, I hope! |
