Rear Differential rebuild
Dear guys.

plan to do rebuild project on the rear differential due current facing oil leakage from the driveshaft.

did u guys know the aftermarket part-no for "differential carrier Oil seal", "pinion tapered bearing" and "Pinion Bearing Spacer"?

official toyota code as below:
1. Carrier oil seal = 90311-38015
2. pinion front tapered bearing = 90368-30002
3. pinion rear tapered bearing = 90368-34049
4. Pinion bearing spacer = 41231-22010

plan to get all parts ready before dismantle it.

please do advise. TQVM.

Dear All,
after go thru all the post at this group and found that Jondee86 had share on the parts no as i requested for. thanks allot to Jondee86. below as the page.

last saturday as public holiday so have sufficient time to do replacement job. due to limited space under the car, so take me approximate 1/2 hours just to dismantle that oil seal and bearing.[Image: AEU86 AE86 - Rear Differential rebuild]

the whole faulty parts removed as leakaged seal & wear bearing, while others will reused.[Image: AEU86 AE86 - Rear Differential rebuild]

and finally put in the new seal and bearing

On the parts that i had replace as below:
1. Pinion Differential Carrier Oil seal (90311-38015) AKA Double acting seal 38/65/12/19
2. Pinion Front tapered bearing (90368-30002) AKA TIMKEN M86649 (cone) / M86610 (Cup)

lastly top up gearoil at 1.3L. Hope the seal and bearing can least for years. thanks.

Rear Differential rebuild
It's not really the correct way to replace the bearing as the adjustment for it is done by crushing the spacer a bit at a time and reading the torque required to turn the pinion shaft. I guess you could have accurately measured the length of the old spacer and crushed the new one a few thousands less to allow for the new bearing. If the backlash is really tight after driving for a short distance you might want to try the above... if you haven't already of course!

Rear Differential rebuild
Here is part two of the video that Bean shared and he covers pinion bearing pre-load at the beginning. Basically there has to be a set pre-load on both bearings and it is set by crushing the tube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZQIXOmMnEp0 From the video l would say that he has done this many times before.
