Just have a look at this crazy wide AE86:
I haven't been following D1 for years, but apparently this is Noboru Morita's D1 car. Features a bored out SR20DET and crazy wide wheels to keep up with grip. Wow.. that is kind of awesome (even though most model kits end up looking better).. I see he's demolishing it in a next episode..

That's a cool model, but why does he destroy them like that?

I was looking at a Toyota Deliboy thread on retro rides and wanted to see what these vans go for these days. Found a pretty cool one with a 4age swap. I bet it's fun/sketchy to drive seeing as they come from factory with only 70hp. Prices where anywhere from ¥700000 up to ¥2mil.

High center of gravity?
But they look cool! A bit like the Bedford/Daf vans we had in the 1980s. 1983 - AE86 Sprinter Trueno - import project 2013 - Honda Civic sport - daily driver 2004 - AEU86 dot ORG - daily domain Support our forum, buy from the AEU86 shop: |

The front is torsion and rear leaf springs. The guy from retro rides did try drifting it at skidpad. Didn't tip over so i'm guessing it's fairly stable.

Many years ago I read an article about vans in a magazine. Now this may be incorrect, or maybe I remembered it wrong, but the magazine did mention that vans have a surprisingly low centre of gravity when they aren't loaded so you may find that vans drift better than you'd expect.
