I use Ate DOT 4 oil, but a cheap DOT 5.1 is also nice.
Taking the bleeding procedure and some general sloppyness in account you should just get 1.5 liters.

There you go...I used up some more the first time I filled my system cause the brakes would not bleed the air out properly, and I rebuilt the calipers and master cilinder at 2 different occasions. 0.5 liters sounds about right, it takes the same amount on my volvo which is easy to bleed the brakesystem on.
I'm getting myself 4 new bleedvalves tomorrow so hopefully that will fix the problems with my brake system.

dot4 is cheaper than dot 5.1.. dot 5.1 is a full synthetic brake fluid..

i use Castrol dot 5 synthetic brake fluid..

I know DOT 4 is cheaper, but for street use I wouldnt exactly use expensive DOT5.1 oils...cheap ones work fine though..
Isnt synthetic DOT5 fluid bad for your brake system unless you flush it very often? If I remember correctly it isnt hygroscopic, so when water eventually gets into the brakesystem (and it will), it will stay together in one place and cause rusting brakelines..

i wouldnt put in dot5 for daily use.. maybe for trackdays, then replace it with dot4 or 5.1

Mintex racing oil. No DOT specifications. Say goodbye to boiled brake oil. I use it on the track and i'm very satisfied.

DOT 5 is silicone-based and yes - not hygroscopic. But there is no way to find water in brake system - unless you fill your brake master cylinder reservoir with water :-) The only common problem with DOT 5 is uncompatibility with DOT 3, 4, 5.1.

If you will not find water in your brake system, then why does the usual brakefluid deteriorate due to water it absorbs?
