I was wondering about older RWD Corollas after:
A. Not being able to afford a Hatchi B. Seeing 'The Doctors' new beauty They seem even rarer than Hatchi's over here in the UK, what is the market like 'out there'? still no 86 ________________________ |

Whatever you buy,
the price will be allmost the same, when trying to get out from the car what the AE86 gives you. Plus, in must cases, like Starlets, you 'll soon realize that what you need is ALL mechanical stuff from the AE86. This is a nice overview of all rwd corollas ever produced and where they were sold (not that accurate about europe though).
In Holland we have the "oldtimer"-tax and insurance which is much cheaper than the normal tax-rates and insurance. Therefor oldtimers are worth more and preserved better. When I search in Holland it is easier to find a KE20, 30, 60 or 70 than a hachi and cost about the same. But then again: those cars were originally normal daily drivers. 1983 - AE86 Sprinter Trueno - import project 2013 - Honda Civic sport - daily driver 2004 - AEU86 dot ORG - daily domain Support our forum, buy from the AEU86 shop: |

Thats a very interesting website, I love to read stuff like that. Like I said tho I was just wondering I am going for a Hatchi no matter how long it takes.
Was the 86 a 'car' in its own right? what I mean is, you can buy a Sunny, then a sunny GLX then a Sunny ZX. Is there a 'tame' version of the 86? still no 86 ________________________ |

A very good alternative to the hachi is the TE71 or the TE72. 1983 - AE86 Sprinter Trueno - import project 2013 - Honda Civic sport - daily driver 2004 - AEU86 dot ORG - daily domain Support our forum, buy from the AEU86 shop: |

Blueneon Wrote:I was wondering about older RWD Corollas after: Thanks The reason they are rare it's just because they're old and very very rustsensitive. The bodypanels aren't treated to rust, just paint. No inner wheelarches, so the upper beams at the front are getting wet and dirty every time you drive trough rain. That's food for rust . i got a car there last month for 100E, its an absolutly mint 1982 RWD Carina Diesel. Dont laugh yet because the floor pan is nearly the exact same as the AE86 so in with the 4AGE and LSD and you have the perfect street sleeper. 86 in disguise, everything fits, seats and all

My dad used to own a 1982 Carina station (thought it had a 1.6 engine). It survived my dad for over 6 years, which is VERY long for my dad.
