Breaking in rebuilded engine
Tomorrow i will have my first drive after rebuid.
I know i have to drive it slowly, no go to high revs, not to hold the car at same revs for a extended period of time.
I will change the oil after first 500km, and then after 1000km,and then i plan to go with syntetic oil.

Does any one have something to add?

Yes,
dont run over 100-120 km/h,
dont do fast shifting,
dont go over 4.000-4.500 rpm,
and most important:
whatever you do (shifting, pressing the gas pedal) do it SHOFTLY,
with no harsch :wink:

For how long should i do it, some people say 1000km, some say 2000km

I drove 1000km, with new conrod bearings. Some say that 500km is enough.
I think 1000km is enough, but lets hear peoples opinions Smile

Make a 1000kms as u said and after that every 100kms raise your revs by 500...

Just trying to get another myth out of this world..you dont need to "wear-in" your bearings on car engines. In fact you can throw your bearings away if there is any wear on them. The wear-in period is meant to seat he pistonrings in the freshly honed cilinder. This takes some time and how long and how gently you do this is also a subject of debate but I dont want to go into that matter.

I use to go first 500 km on lower than 2500 rpm
next 500 no more than 3500
and next 500 no more than 4500
next 500 till 5500 and change oil 15W-50 with 5W-50

Don't overburden the engine. Trying to accelerate on 3rd gear from 800rpm is as bad as overreving

I completely agree with you about the bearings. And regarding the piston rings, the best way to seat the rings is to make them push hard against the cylinder walls, and the only way to do this is by using high cylinder pressure, and that means - floor it. Since first few times this will generate very high heat due to the friction, it is not recommended to do this for long - so floor it and get it revving up to the redline, and then completely lift off to allow the vacuum to suck out the metal shavings from the cylinders, and for rings to cool down. Drive with 2k rpm for a while and then floor it again.
