I made one myself in Alu & stainless steele for my own car, and used the original for "spares". Thats the one theres a movie of here on the board somewhere.

Then i bought alot of spares including a shiftlever, which i made into a shortshift too. The plan was to sell it to a guy in Denmark but he changed his mind. Now i want a original shifter in stock, thats why i offer to trade with someone who wants a shortshift.

Yes, I know. I went to a welder with your do it yourself plan and he told me that fuckin price. Made me totallly furious, never called him again. I 'll ask another one kinda-friend of mine before purchacing anything.

But I wanted to know how YOUR shortshifts work, TRDs, T3, homemade, all...

How noisy are they, how faster are they in reallity, not in theory :wink:

you are right guys - I promised, I finished some things, I started another ones but don't finish all of them (they are in progress but delayed). I have my reasons to do that but it's not worth to discuss them (personal reasons). I can understand your feelings - my own car is in the welder/painter workshop for 11 months and I don't know when the car will be ready

PS: I made the shifter for 1/2 day - I was lucky to have all materials and instruments + enough free time. The main problem is 100% hand work - there is no way to use laser cutting - and machine shop services are unnecessary expensive for such a small work.

there are no hard feelings, at least from my side!

As you already know - I used the Kris shortshift artice - but changed the plate(s) a little in order to test two different configurations - with 10mm and 20mm (2X10mm) plates:

So when CJ tried them - he could write opinions for 55% and near 30% shorter shifting
I don't try to make "perfect looking" kit - but more flex and practical.

From my experience, I'm not shure a short shift is really worth the hussle. I have installed the T3 one. Here are the facts:

1. The throw is indeed reduced by a lot.

2. The feel is also improved (feels sloty).

3. Really fast shifting is sometimes impossible (cannot select gear) esp in downshifting (with rev-matching).

4. 4th gear synchro is almost gone 4000kms after full gearbox rebuild.

5. 4th gear sometimes disengages on its own, especially when under stress (upshift on high revs, while going uphill).

6. The box produces scary sounds when it warms up. It sounds like two metal plates grinding against each other whenever the gears are selected.

Just for your information I'm using a metal clutch with the OEM clutch-cover.

Could it be that the guy who rebuilt by gearbox, fucked it up?
Or maybe the short-shifter was badly fitted (I don't see how this could have happened).
Or maybe the decreased throw (55%) has its drawbacks compared to TRDs (33%).
