Help needed for Starlet KP61/62 4AGE conversion
I was thinking of buying a starlet as a winterbeater this coming winter. And I thought to myself, i have a 4AGE lying in the shed, including the AE86 wiring loom and an extra ECU....hell, i´ll make me a fun wintercar, and then when winter is over, make it a drift/track car.
But.... Are any of the KP models better suited for this conversion, and what about the gearbox fitment, will the OEM box fit, or will i need a T50 gearbox for it? Any help and input would be much appreciated. In australia en the usa are some "ap60" built.
i think the normal k40/k50 gearbox wouldn't mount on the 4age block. And can't hold the power. Check this forum: toymods forum mark |

Help needed for Starlet KP61/62 4AGE conversion
I think there's a kp61 forum somewhere out there....that might be worth a shot..otherwise there is at least 1 guy on club4ag that has a 4ag KP61 who you could try to email. He uses the car for auto-x and kept getting bumped up to higher classes because the porsche owners couldnt deal with the fact that they where getting their arses whooped by a granny starlet.

IMHO peter, if you go to 4AGE powered KP Starlet - the best way is to use engine, gears and rear end from AE86.

you need to fit a hydraulic clutch (and everything needed to make it work of course ), because a K40/K50 gearbox has a cable clutch and won't bolt up to a 4A-GE, also don't know if it can hold up the power.
Also a T50 is longer then a K40/K50, so you need to shorten the driveshaft. And need to cut a hole in the tunnel, because the lever is a bit more backwards. On my KE20 i can use a Carina TA12/TA14 2T driveshaft, dunno about the KP60.
