Fuel consumption
Just wondering how people are doing on their mileage
I filled up my gastank for the 2nd time since I got my car, first time I could see how many liters compared to how many kilometers. 34 liters for 430 km of hard driving. Damn I love this car Greetz, Bastiaan "mux213" Olij Moved down under, no more hachi |

And you think that's a good thing??! I usually drive around 430km's on 36 liters myself, except this weekend cause I had to keep up with Lennerts slightly manic pace on the freeways and silly backroads though amsterdam. He almost made a hood ornament out of a bicyclist.
If I had some more self control I would be able to get better mileage i think, but my right foot is just too heavy FABRICA MI DIEM, PVNC! |

By the way, Coupe Turbo...please post some pics of your car and engine in the new members forum..I'm really REALLY interested in your setup. Fitting turbo's to left hand drive cars is not a very easy task because of the brake master cilinder position, I'm curious how you solved this. (the best solution is relocating the starter to the other side of the engine, which is a pain in the ass.)

I can get around 40mpg easily in the stripped-out 20v. Lightening the car helps economy/performance.
Thrashing/drifting sessions use more, but even when doing a lot of that I still get between 30 and 35mpg. I love AE86's.... |

Fuel consumption
Hmmm...
not sure how my car is doing fuel wise as the gauge seems to have a mind of its own. I think I managed 235(ish)Km on 22litres of UK Shell Optimax (98RON). How big is the tank on an '86 ? 45-50 litres ? I imagine with the age of the car there is a float in the tank that sends the info to the gauge in the dash. Wonder what is the easiest way to get at this and check its ok ? can I remove the fuel pump from the inside of the boot and get in that way ? are the seals reusable ? Regards Ian. |
