Well guys,
Today was the big day.. I got up after a good 5 hours of sleep and scheduled to meet 1974KE25 on the way home... Still just barely recovered from my hangover I mostly watched Ben (1974ke25) working his magic around the fueltank. The whole thing was out in a record time... some rusty bolts and a lot of spilled gasoline did get in the way but the fuelpump came out soon enough. After fiddling with the rx7 pump trying to see what needs to be taken from the old pump to make it fit we figured out what to do and the RX7 pump proved to be a perfect fit. A bit of a bummer was that I could see the rust damage to the frame rail on the righthand side of the car in it's full glory. It really is completely rotten and will need to be replaced over about 40-50cm's. I guess I'm a lucky bastard that it is virtually impossible to get a good look at this spot with the fueltank on it, otherwise I doubt I would have passed MOT like this. To conclude this small story I got to start the car for the first time to see if everything works as planned, and it fired right up after it pressurised the fuelsystem! I am a happy guy.. A word of gratitude to 1974KE25 and monique for coming to my rescue from quite a distance. Ben is like a one-man-army when it comes to swapping fuelpumps!
