Don't you use any product?
What are the steps to achieve that final result?

All I did was use a sheet of blank paper on th dry surface, crumble it up a bit (like in the picture) and just polish the light. It will take some time, but they come up real nice. Smile

Oh, and I cleaned them off with a glass cleaning spray. Wink

I've bought some new rubber for the rear: Goodridge 195 R14, and I really love the pattern of the tires! Hurray!

Last sunday me and Mux found some serious rust under at the right rear shock. Needs to be fixed asap. Huh

Okay I've finally seen the light, so I'm preparing the hachi for bucketseats and a rollcage. Also removing all soundproving material... Never knew it was that hard to remove. Just taking a brake right now, but I'll continue on later on. Wink

the idea is to weld a rollcage in for strength, then we don't care about the rust no more Evil

Indeed. The car is getting more and more play due to the rust, so welding a cage in it would make the whole structure stiffer. Big Grin

To make the story complete:
The whole thing is that my car didn't fail the MOT: it just didn't got it. Tongue

The car would pass the test, except for some rust in the inner fender near the leftfoot of the driver. Big Grin

I knew this would be a problematic spot since we found out some time ago the spot was covered in a thick layer of bitumen masking a rusty spot, so it needed fixing already. Only thing was we didn't realize that is was that bad. Undecided

The MOT guy spotted it since the rust was so bad the bitumen started to fall off by itself. So it needed fixing. I asked my neighbour (who fixed my windshield as well) to fix it and he had a small investigation into the spot and reported back that I was the lucky owner of a Fred Flintstone mobile. Big Grin

Anyway, to save time/money/interior I decided to remove the carpet and stuff myself so he can focus upon fixing it. Wink

And as you can see: my fenders are getting bad as well. Need to fix them up when I've got the MOT. Sad

Really looks like someone screwed up over there. Probably would have been an easy fix originally.

Still with the carpeting removed it doesn't look like it's gotten further then I feared. With luck they can just cut it out and weld in a new bit.

Your fenders don't look half bad, mostly surface rot..
