Chiro- another Croatian AE86
2 Ivan & Vlad thanx... I got to admit, those guys are of big help... I would of give up, or postponed the job, but this way its funn all night
The head is on!!! Last night I wanted to take the head of and to take it to the machining in the morning. But I hadn't had the tools to doit (remember the 12 side socket?)... Fortunately since beeing a EVO magazine part-time worker, Branimir (cheef editor) let me use a test Mazda 3 for a few days to get back on track. May I remind you, both of my cars died... Starlet had eaten his distributor and I hadn't have a spear, since everything was closed till saturday, I was paralized... So I set in the Mazda, went to Zax. He gave me the socket but we werent sure if that will fit trought to the bolt... Got the momentum wrench and set off home (from me to Zax's place it is about 50km)... So, I got home, but the socket could't get trough... I was mad and mizerable... Fortunately, as I was speaking to Meshin earlyer about the problem, he mentioned it to Riza (english Rice he is a Honda lover-mechanic-freak dude that has almost everything Proxon Tools can offer). Riza called me, said: "I GOT THE TOOLS!!! WHERE AND WHEN!!???" So Meshin, Riza, Pale, Marin, Mario and Tom came to my girlfriend's place, brought the tools and the head was off in a blink of an eye... Than Riza got ainctious... He couldn't wait till tomorow... He did some 5 engines for street race just by cleaning the gasket leftovers down and putting the new gasket on... and the cars run still... So he persuaded us all to do it all in one night... He said that the car will fire and run till 3am He and I got to work, the rest were making the atmosphere... just talking about cars, races and drags on everyday driving... it was fun... cold (outside was some - but fun... Anyways the head was on, tightened, with camshafts till 3 o'clock... I didn't had the exhaust gasket and some hoses were broken during the process so I had to buy new ones... but if i did had it all Chiro would fire around 3,30 and we would be on a test drive... amazing!!! Today is the next episode, althought I will be working alone (if I find the will because I had only 4hours of sleep)... Tomorow, more likely... Will my Hachi fire? Will it work? How long will it take me to do the job? Find out in the next few posts of "Chiro- another Croatian AE86"... comming up soon- how we all got drunk and sang kumbaya by the heater in the garage while mending my car LOL... 2 Mr Monster- just take 1L of rum, heat it up a bit and put some tea bags in to take the flavour (just kiding...- ordinary fruit tea with some 1/5 ratio of rum...) hey mate I hope you didn't use that head gasket! The only good head gaskets are from toyota or trd. The steel ones. If that one aint steel it will prolly breakdown soon!

2 robokill I agree, fully, but, as Rio said... My budget now, final with new sparkplugs, gaskets and everything else is -500€ that i owe to my girlfriend and - 100€ that I owe to Zax (new head gasket set.... ) Also, this will work, for some time... It will hold (I hope) at least for winter
Fresh from the garage... We did it all. All conected, fueled, oiled and watered Have a problem on the stuff that takes the coolant from the engine to the cooler... Some housing above the thermostat... that little tube inside needs replacing so the water is leeaking... Riza came again and helped. We couldn't fire the bastard... Obviously there is too much air in the fuel sistem... didn't read the manuals properly... It will fire up in the morning when I will be more relaxed and smarter... I am tired like a Macedonian baker... from 16h to 02h in the morning... Frozen to the bone... Oh, and the snow has started to show... Like it is around the corner... must be faster... must get the junk working again quick... Didn't take much pics, no time... Though, if you have glicerin, use it when dealing with old rubber parts... softens them verry much... Probably the thing that worried me the most was the timing belt, putting it all together as it was... At the end, things that give you the hard time, realy are the smallest, most stupid things, like leekage, putting the nut on the thermostat housing (got to be a gumiflex to do it...), putting the new hose on (especialy if you do it like me and buy the one that doesn't fit ) and so on... Of to bed now... report soon, when the car fires (if not explodes or comes appart sooner...) SNO-MO-BIRU project started- CHIRO |

ok but be aware not to rev your engine alot. The gasket is weak and it will wear down pretty soon. Try Ebay to find a cheap toyota oem or trd headgasket.
