Maxime from France ! (new pix)
Hi ! Ivan told me about the board...So here I am !
Here's my long story and sorry for my pity English ! I'm French and I'm 28 years old, I felt in love with Japanese cars when I was 8 (1984  ), my father tooks me and my brother to a ride in a brand new white corolla GTi 16 (AE82) ! Lately in 90's I liked the Honda cars, specialy the Civics, my uncle bought an EG hatchback, I decided to buy one of these when I could...10 year later I bought my blue EG6 (1993 Civic VTi DOHC VTEC), I love this great car that's where my username come from ! I return to my first love (Toyota), 7 years ago, thanks to the AE86. I didn't know this car in 1984, but in 1997 I bought Gran Turismo (the first one on PS 1) and there was the AE86, I loved to drive it in the game  At this time, I didn't know the car was sold in france... Later I watched Initial D and Bestmotoring and I heard that the car was sold here ! I started to search for one ! It was 3 years ago...And it was very difficult because there was only 248 AE86 sold in France in 1984 ! After more than one year I found a (crazy) guy, he told me he could sell me one. In fact (now he is my friend) he's got about 10 (!) AE86, he buys every AE86 he founds !! This guy is nut !! He is one of the reason you could'nt found an AE86 here in France !!! He buys systematicly all the AE86 !!! After 6 months, he finally decided to sell me one...It was my first AE86, a blue one, there are only blue and red AE86 in France (90% are red). It was very very rusted in the rear but it runs very well...I started to restore it, it cost me a lot (I changed all the rear panels !) and the parts are very difficult to get ! The body work isn't done yet because I wait for a right quarter panel for 1 years now !!!!!! It's a very long story...The body is stil at the body work, waiting for the panel the picture the seller send me : 1984 Zenki AE86, 160 000km, the left side was very rusted...In fact the right side to I changed the other fender (left side). I puted out the interior for the body work ! The body work ! The body work was done buy a friend of me, he is very good, he is in aircooled VW...He told me that my AE86 will never rust again !!! To be continued (I've got an other AE86  ).... |

But he doesn't sell to Dutch guys? I see you have the hatchback and the hatchback is quite rare in Holland (we haven't spotted one yet, but know there were 4 hatchbacks sold in Holland) and love to buy all hatchbacks available in Europe... Hi Maxime welcome!
Don't be such a tease and show us the finished car!!! I came from the Honda camp originally as well. They are great cars and have some fantastic engines that actually live up to the manufacturers perfomance claims. One day when I have the big barn that I'm planning (very distant future) I'll buy a crx VTi thats totally stock and save it from the tupperware boys. A wheel to steer the front of the car A pedal to steer the rear |

Whow man, that looks like ALOT of work! Good to know people are taking the time, money and effort to fix these cars up instead of sending them to the junkyard.

Or am I mixing things up Nice to have you around, try and get your friend in here aswell, 10 AEs, WHOW my girlfriend would throw me out of the house, she already thinks I'm crazy owning 3 cars Greetz, Bastiaan "mux213" Olij Moved down under, no more hachi |

You really gave your first ae86 a lot of tender loving care. Please post some pictures of the finished (or semi-finished) car. Dont forget those pics of your second hachi, but I figure you where already planning to post those up when you wrote to be continued. Keep up the good work.. FABRICA MI DIEM, PVNC! |
