Are you using a stock exhaust manifold? Cause it sure looks like stock... Those pictures will sure give strength to keep on going in the army, cause after that I'll get to bulding mine

Quote:Too much welding to the sleeves. Are they mild steel ? Or stainless ?Mild steel with a zinc chromate coating (I removed the coating first from the spot where I welded). I welded it first with high current from three spots, uniformly around the strut. Then, after it had cooled a bit, I used a bit less current and connected the spots. Is there a risk of warping the strut if there's too much welding done to it? Quote:nice work was it hard to do? i ordert t3 coilover convention weld on kit for mine hope its pretty easy to do.Not particularly difficult. Cutting the strut needs to be measured right and double check your measurements before welding. Quote:Are you using a stock exhaust manifold? Cause it sure looks like stock...Yep, I'm using the stock manifold for now. After I have the car on its wheels and running, I can start concentrating on improving the engine performance. A 4-1 manifold from Martelius is what I had in my mind.. |

No, I think there is no risk of warping. Just was curious.
It's good that you avoided zinc fumes during welding (that's why I zinc-plated finished parts only). |

Project is looking good. Am interested to know where you've sourced your N2 kit from. Is it a real one or a copy.
I ended up using some genuine and some copy parts from Rhett in Malaysia, but if you have a source in europe it'd be useful for when mine get broken and need replacing. regards Matt J.. 4AGTTE N2 Levin Replica |

My kit is a copy, made by 86Factory in New Zealand. A fellow 86er here in Finland is making molds of my kit to make copies for himself and me and confirmed that he can make more copies if needed. I don't know how soon he'd be able to make more as he's probably pretty busy with his own car but I'll ask him when I visit his garage to pick up my "originals".

Some progress again. Some more work on the suspension and brakes, as well as finishing up the electrical stuff - mainly the switch and fuse panels.
Front hubs rebuilt with new bearings and dust seals; TRD 7kg/mm rear springs installed, as well as brake calipers which were rebuilt with new seals. I'm using old pads and discs for now - will replace them before heading out to the track for the first time. Rear tyres on the ground! I don't have wheels and tyres yet - for now, I grabbed some old Mangels steelies which were left over from my KE70. My brother made a new top half for the shifter shaft, as well as a shift knob. Electric setup inside the car. The battery is just something that was laying around in our garage - I'll be using a 18Ah gel-filled motorcycle battery instead. Switch panel. On the top, main power and indicator light. Below it, switches for ignition power and fuel pump - three empty holes for future use. On the bottom, starter button. And.. ..it.. ..WORKS! Now I'll just need to get a new radiator and hoses for the oil cooler and I'll be ready to put all the fluids inside the engine and fire it up! Oh yeah, and distributor cap and rotor. But not a long way to go for a smoke test! |
