AE 101 - 111 ITB Question, please help
My friend started a big tune-up on his AE101 4AGE 20V engine and he asked me to put a question here.
He would like to buy an AE111 blacktop intake for the AE101 silvertop engine. The mounting bolts are on the same place? We know that the ports won't match, but its not a big problem.. It tried to find some photos but no one made me sure if its bolt on or not. |

AE 101 - 111 ITB Question, please help
continued again I removed last picture as it wasnt relevant and theres a limit per post
blacktop: next theres the intake port. the silvertop is taller but not as wide. also down in the port the silvertop has almost nothing dividing the three valve ports. however the blacktop has three distinct runners seperating the valves. also the port is much wider. silvertop: blacktop: heres a few pics with measurement: blacktop: silvertop: well the last thing i can think of is the diameter of the throttle body inlet so heres the two: blacktop: silvertop: oh one last thing i noticed, the blacktop has a mechanical timing belt tensioner where as the silvertop just has a spring and then is tightened down. heres a pic of the blacktop tensioner: then a few more random pics: um.. i didnt remove the cranks to weigh them but i might do it later. i dont think there is a differnce though. if you guys have any questions or want me to weigh/measure anything else let me know soon before the things back "life begins at 8000rpms" - Going Racing |

AE 101 - 111 ITB Question, please help
Is it just me or are those "hot spots" he was machining away to avoid detonation actually the squish areas (which help avoid detonation).

AE 101 - 111 ITB Question, please help
There is so little quench in the 20v, and more importantly the piston doesnt make use of the avialabel quench, that it practically makes zero difference.

ZDoman Wrote:My friend started a big tune-up on his AE101 4AGE 20V engine and he asked me to put a question here. The itb's themself should bolt up nicely on the silvertop manifold. They will need at least some portmatching on the manifold side though. If you need pics just let me know exactly what you want pics of and I'll get some for you  (have both sets including manifolds lying in the basement) '85 AE86 4AGE, '94 SW20 3SGTE, '83 KP61, 72' RA21 |

The manifold side is the same bolt pattern, but the airhorn side has a slightly different bolt placement (close though). Here is a picture of blacktop gasket on silvertop itb (manifold side) to illustrate the difference. As you can see the bolts overlap nicely.

A fairly quick and short offtopic:
On the last pic - that's the TPS on the left with the wires hanging, right? |
