Sweeps, the undercoating is never sandblasted off.. most seam sealants/undercoats and sound deadening materials are too elastic. When you try to sandblast them, the sand will just get bounced off or absorbed I guess. That's why you see most people clean the underside of the car on a spit BEFORE sandblasting.

Your car doesnt seem to have much undercoat on it though.. and from the looks of it, it's pretty much rust-free under all the coating so just consider yourself lucky. Looks like the chassis just had a load of surface rust but is solid underneath.

BTW 100 GBP for sandblasting. Huh I doubt they would do it for even double that amount over here in holland.

100GBP would "maybe" be enough to sandblast a hood/bonnet.

A wheel to steer the front of the car
A pedal to steer the rear

True! But removing the under coating is a lot of work! I spend about 40 hours... And I really want to try sand blasting it, but I didn't Smile

BTW I paid about £110 to get my 86 sand blasted Cool

Keep up the good work, Sweeps :!:

Huh Where do all you english guys learn to weld and make repair panels that good?
I'm always amazed by the quality of work that's being done by you guys in those little sheds... I wish my welds would look even half as good as that (I only have 2 days of experience though).

Filler was hiding some lovely welding :wack:

Chopped the water traps off the rear corner, i'll drill the holes for the bumper mounts and weld the towing eye bracket on at a later stage.

I can't repair the rear panel/floor pan while the car is on the spit so i'll remove the rust from there at a later stage.

Patch work quilt springs to mind...
