Today some pics. After welding I sealed the plate lines so no rust would be able to occur.

WOW! that's a lot further gone than I'd have expected.. even worse than my volvo.. Anyway... since you dont care how it looks when repaired, a section of steel plating will do the trick just fine. I'm also very glad not to have found as much rust on my own 86 under those bitumen mats.

Test fitting a TE71 cage. THe backpart seem to fit fine but the front isn't that good. Need to discuss with my Welding Meister if we can adjust this?
