El Camino,

Never had any problems with that... I've never had my foot well warm up by the exhaust or at least never noticed it even driving without heatshielding and that even driving on a hot day on the circuit.

I do however remember the days driving my RX7, RX7s are notorious for having their trannys warm up and having removed all padding from the interiour the drive up to the nurburgring would mean by the time we'd arrive on a hot day, the footwell would be hot enough to melt the rubber on your shoes if you touch the wrong part...
So I'm wondering, might it be something else warming up in your hachi? maybe oil level in your tranny is running low or there is some other problem?

I changed the oil bevor an year and since then I havent checked it anymore. But indeed, it is turning to be more diffucult to switch to some gears.
Thanks for the advice Mux. I will check this!

I get hot feet in the hachi too.. I've lost both heat shields within 4 months of installing my brandnew exhaust. I'm fairly convinced that it's not the tranny causing this, although it does get pretty warm too.

I remember Kristian having burnt off paint in his footwell from his trd header when he was over here in holland a long time ago.

Had the same thing in my stripped down ae86.
After a short detour in the Audi-S turn on our local track (zandvoort) i slightly relocated the exhaust and caused a crack in it. Burning rubber got a whole new meaning for me after that. Lost half of my shoe that day. After (re)welding the exhaust things kept the same. Makes me guess that the position of the exhaust is pretty tricky. Good luck!

I have a heatshield on my header and I dont have middle silencer. But I believe originaly there is some metal sheet just over the end of the 2-1 header, that and dont have and somewhere there there is this soft connection between the header and the exaust pipes. It is not broken, but it is possible that it is stopping the flow of the gases causing overheating in this point.

Still curious about the gearbox though Smile.

LOL Big Grin
Well, I did notice a slight change in warm feet after the hole in the inner fender got fixed. My neighbor used some rubber mats on top of the repairs to replace the old silencing material. After that my feet didn't really get warm. Wonder if the rubber is still there. Dumb question
