Ivan i wrote this to Ryo now Big Grin you are right with compresions

the euro AFM and US are same,
difrence between MAP and AFM are the pistons only both for 18mm pin
harness conversion is nonsense no visible power gain.
(maybe better response)
Redtop has 10.3:1 but stronger block and crank also the piston pin is 20mm+oil cooling pistons

then was made an bluetop(bigport) with stronger bottom end without oil cooling pistons and compresion 9.4:1 20mm pin

so if you need to rebuild your engine all to do is to combine parts

we should write faq for this on the top page it was discussed many times and i see no secrets in there. have seen all those engines in parts

well the whole reason why im doing this is that im burning oil right now..but i didn't look into it yet so i dont know if my valve seals are bad or my rings..so i was going to tare it apart so i was thinkig of just swapping block while im at it and throw in some new valve seals

ok if you can find cheap redtop,shortblock go for it, but expect it can be in worser state as you curent engine.

oldeskewtoy up there says if i throw in some mild cams it would increase hp..what size would you remcomend? and is tuning necessary?

well at best you use the original cam from bigport 240degre,
redtop has 232, small diference Smile

if i remember correctly any cam over 256 will not work properly with stock ecu and tvis, it is worth to invest?

I am running 260 / 252° with a ported head with a standard ecu. Going to the power bench on sunday so i'll have a graph then but it runs fine!

Do a compression test on your engine before stripping it.. if the compression is accetable on all cilinders, then it's probably just leaking valve seals causing the oil consumption.
