Tie rods
I always felt that my steering was a bit loose.
Apparently my inner tie rod on the right side is worn out and has a lot of play. I am going to replace them both and wanted to add a 5mm spacer aswell for more angle. I have 2 choises: 1: buy nipparts inner tie rods and add some washers to make a 5mm spacer [img name=]http://www.aeu86.org/files/af/afbeeldingaspx_137.jpg[/img] 2: buy the new megan racing inner tie rods which already have a 5mm spacer on them. The nipparts cost about 50 euro. The megan 120$ plus shipping would come to around 120euro. I am just wondering about the quality of the megans compared to the nipparts...is the 70euro worth it or not? |

Have no experience with Megan.
There are also others building those like JIC (265.- Chf), Noby Booth. JIC will be very good quality. Just to give alternatives. The nipparts with your own spacer could also be a good choice. i would just run standard ones just with a spacer... cheaper, quality would be no worse then megans, most likly better...

The tie rods pictured just look like standard ae86 with a section machine down to produce the extra area for the rack to move. Powersteering ae86 tie rods are 5-10mm shorter depending on manufacture than non powersteering ones. 70 series are 15-20mm longer than this again.

Just use stock rods, and buy my precision engineered Battleversion 5mm spacers for £20 inc shipping!
Dont use washers, they have slop and can help the tie rod work loose!!! PM me |

They will be a sloppy fit, and you dont want any squirming between a tie-rod and a steering rack And you forgot the Loctite Totally your choice. But if you want a proper, riliable, precision fit, buy the Battleversion spacers. I still have 2 sets left |

They fitted fine. And I didn't forget the locktite. :wink:
For those wondering: When you use a spacer the locking rings become useless, so you need to use locketite on the thread of the tie rod that goes into the rack. PS: Alex Pfeifer = Battleversion! |

So if i use 70series tie rods which are 20mm longer than OEM do i get extra lock?
Or i got it wrong? |

You got it wrong, the extra lock comes from the added lenght of the spacer on the steering rack that can be pulled into the housing.
