They are equal length because I'm fitting an equal length 4 link kit rather than the standard different length item. The car will have boxes welded into the chassis where the back seats used to go Big Grin

Progress......

Hopefully the cage install is under way Big Grin

When the links aren't equal length it means as the rear suspension compresses (Or when the car's lowered), the driveshaft is working at an angle to the differential's input shaft. This reduces grip and is one of the reasons AE86's drift well from slow speeds.

So you can improve rear grip by either fitting "traction brackets", or as Conrad's done - fit equal length links. That way, as the suspension compresses grip will remain more constant. This is more desirable if you want to do say time attack events - or want to drift at higher speeds whilst retaining control of the car. Ueo for example, had the same setup as Conrad for his D1 AE86 with Tomei engine..

Conrad - I'll be going to TPS next week, hopefully buddy.. They've been delayed in getting the engine out of my other car... finishing other jobs. I called them earlier this week and they said they'd expect to start work on the engine about a week from now..

I haven't forgotten what we need to check - once we decide, we can order the goods Wink

I guess some of the other stuff we sent you recently will start arriving soon...!

Miguel, great reply as ever Smile

My car will be used for circuit / trackdays / timeattack type events rather than drift so improved grip is the way forward (especially with a turbo charged F20 lol ) for me.

Miguel, nothing has arrived yet but I'm away at the moment so theres no rush.

Cheers

Miguel - Newera Wrote:Just drilling out the 2 pop rivets will get the chassis plate off - Make sure you keep it safe, though - as you can't get an original replacement..

To avoid damage from moisture, rain, etc. those door trims should come off. Need a Phillips & flat head screw driver plus a clip removal tool, to prize the plastic clips off - this will avoid damaging the compressed cardboard behind the PVC trim. Keep all the original parts in freezer bags with labels, somewhere safe where they won't get lost, trodden on, etc.

Would recommend re-trimming the door cards in some nice material. We can supply Bride Mesh (Which looks like carbon mesh) inexpensively for example - which looks excellent. Or you can go silly and get carbon door trims, carbon rear quarter trims, full carbon dashboard, carbon sill trims, carbon wind deflectors, etc. but I wouldn't recommend too much of that stuff.... It'll rattle & squeak! Evil

got any pics champ of the bride mesh and price Smile

if first u dont succeed,ur not trying hard enough
