Word on the net is that you can use underbucket shims from the yaris engine. But I may be mistaken. I don't know the threshold either, at which kind of lift you need to change to a different type of shims.

I believe underbucket shims or a shimless design like the yaris buckets are advised above 9mm of lift.

1NZ something, as used in toyo scion and some other car (wikipedia)... just assuming the word on the net hasn't been talking about transplanted engines in a yaris.

do some research

Cams for a stock 4age 16v
hi guyz newbie here...help me with this,(not professional in tuning)

AE86
my setup:
4age small port, overhauled with new crank bearing no porting & polished done
0.5mm Toda metalgasket
Toda cam gears
Toda valve springs
272/264 cams 7.9mm lift
4-1 extractor
Trd plug cable
NGK iridium sparkplug heat range no.8
20v silvertop ITB
Cusco M.F.E plug&play ecu link with apexi SAFC1

at the moment engine is running well but get abit frustrated with topend power...i can feel it pulling away from 4000-6500rpm,but its seems it won't rev easily up to 7000-7500rpm(power loss i guess).with the cams i had dont you think i can rev easily up to 8000rpm?

2nd things,if running with ITB do the A/F have to be richen up?

thanks

My engine is 4age bigport tvis
My project includes:
1- 4age bigort head with toda 272 10,3 lift.
- Custom made or toda shims kit for underbucket shims rebuilt.
- Adjustable cam gears of toda.
- Valve spring of toda too.
2- 4agze bottom end but i replaced the pistons of 4agze with 4age smallport toda pistons 82mm 20 pin.
- Crankshaft rods ect of 4agze.
- Compression ratio 11,3:1 with OEM headgasket.
3- Piggyback ecu. But which brand is better?
Now is allready the bottom end and im waiting the head to rebuilt.
Which will be the result?
What do you think?
The bad thing is that i have oem exhaust system

If all be fine, future plans:
- Standalone ecu
- Throttle body of black top.

lol guys this topic was a question from bubble drift for new cams for his engine. But its gotten to be a "look @ my full specced engine Tongue

anyway to help out

drift dancer: Its a shame you didn't do a port and polish on the head as it really improves the power. I don't know the full tech setup but with your specs you would have to have this in the car:

- Wideband lambda
- 250CC injectors

Take a dyno day and tune the engine. It should easily go up to 8000. (Though if possible I would get the headwork done first)

Tolisspi: With your setup ( I am jealous its looks very promising) your engine will suffer from 2 things

- standard intake
- exhaust

The power can't be predicted but I would not run this engine without a good header/exhaust and some itb's. It will just hold it back. btw don't forget your injectors and ecu. The standard 210cc are good upto 160-170 @ the crank anything higher you really need to change them to 250cc
