Just incase anyone searches for info on this at a later date -

The Emanage Blue cable is specific to the unit and you cant use a basic USB / or Serial to USB cable. The USB looking end isnt actually a USB plug.

The issue is very few laptops come with a serial port these days - so you need to get an adaptor plug for you laptop which the serial end of the cable plugs into and then then leaves you with a USB plug which will work on your modern lap top. You may need to play with the com settings to ensure the laptop / Emanage communicate properly!

Serial USB convertors are available cheap on Ebay.

Seems alot of people have got caught out with this in the past - trying to use generic USB's etc and having issues with it not connecting etc.
