Lotsa bends in the main tubes, very narrow tubing and hinging connections. Maybe they work, maybe they don't, but they start out in life a little bit handicapped. I think its done to keep the cage cheap. No difficult fishmouth cutouts are needed and all the welding is limited to some weld on tabs.
