hey bud, timing isn't affected when using stock cams. when you upgrade them, that's when you have to keep an eye out.
bad timing is bad timing. check all your timing points. there is one the crank gear (behind the crank pulley) that aligns with a mark on the oil pump. that sets it to tdc (top dead center) if thats good, then the mark on the crank pulley will sit on the "0" on your plastic (timing) lower cover, the cam gear dots will align to the marks on the plate behind them and the rotor on the dizzy will point to no. 1 on the dizzy cap. if the cams or dizzy is not in line, then adjust them to where they are suppose to be. shaving block and head w/thinner head gasket does not affect timing. it bumps up the compression. which at that point you should be using the high comp injectors, upgrade cams with gears to get the full potential of the mods you have done. hope this helps. te72 wagon ae86 levin coupe project |
