This method is the so called "swedging". The original question regarded comparing reliability of this method (which of course anybody can do at home) with crimping.

I will make a T-joint in the middle for the front circuit also. The actual difference is very small, it has to do with pressure loss difference in the left and right lines. If you could actually feel this difference during braking it would be a slight delay in the brake force build up on the longer hose side. I guess there are a number of other factors that would make a braking system unbalanced, but every little thing helps, even for psychological reasons!
