Hey Drako, you are absolutely right.. I have 3mm clearance, not preload. Its set that way at the moment, so equal bump/rebound (compromise). 3mm isn't enough to make the springs rattle I guess, especially since it only releases the springs at the very extremes of handling. For AE86s with very light rears the equations change, so you have lower initial sag in the chassis, but also less total roll for the same lateral force. Did you ever try setting a bit higher ride height on your car? You could try and see if it feels better.
