I did my propshaft bearing a couple of weeks ago. You don't need airtools to change it, but I would recommend at least the following:
Vice, Flathead screwdriver, Hammer, Socket wrench, Torque wrench and a Mandrel or a piece of wood. Do like this: 1. Mark everything up and remove the shaft from the car. 2. Use the Flat head screwdriver and hammer to make the nut round (or roundish) again. 2. Put it in a vice and undo the nut. 3. Hammer out the shaft, using either a mandrel or a piece of wood. 4. Replace the bearing, remember to face it the correct way! 5. Torque up the nut (pref a new nut, but the old one works fine) first to 196Nm then loosen the nut and torque it up to 30Nm. 6. Hammer the nut so it gets deformed into the groove. 7. Install and line it up. 8. Done! |
