In preparation for the BDC Licence day @ Lydden Hill, I haven´t done much since the last Lydden Hill practice day, cause all the car need is more power, which obviously can´t be changed within a couple of days, as it requiers an engine swap...
Played a litte with the suspension to get it lower, rolled the arches to accept all my wheels without changing wheel spacers, topped up the oil. And bought a shitload (5pairs iirc) brand new of Yokohama A539 185/50/14´s wich will play the main part in my misery later on. I´m guilty of going to a licence day without the intention to compete next year, but I was curious to see what its like to do judged runs and how I´m doing compared to others and maybe even gain a licence ![]() Turns out I´m shit and didn´t get a licence ![]() To make excuses for my bad performance, I blame my new veery grippy tires in a car that it not able to smoke them....110bhp+ 0 camber. No matter how I threw my car into the first corner it just bogged out before the 1st transition, were I shift from 3rd to 2nd and than the same shit as I was getting ready for the big bend shifting up to 3rd, clutchkicking, it just whouldn´t have it... Wasted all my practise runs trying to get those Yokohamas to work, but with no results. Finally came to the conclusion, driving like this wont get me a licence, so I canged to my normal slightly bigger but a lot less grippy part worn tyres. Not done a single practice run on them made me spin 360° on the entrance of my first judged round, cause I wasn´t expecting so much less grip:wack: softened the suspension to get some grip back, 2nd run was me getting used to my car again and 3rd was a good run, and thats what the judges thought as well 3rd run was semi pro worthy ![]() Collected quiet a few nice pictures over the last week, thanks to all the photographers!!! check out the siick lock! Upps, wait, actually its me spinning :o ![]() These are a few of the other pics, from the licence run and the practise session: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() And even my fucked up last round was captured... ![]() I´m booking the Lydden Hill Weekender in Decemver this week, not much to do on my car, I´m trying to get my new 4,7:1 spool diff ready, but apart from that all I need is loads of 185/55/14 ![]() My AE is also going on the dyno to get a powerfigure and have a look what I´m currently pushing, this could help me trying to figure out what engine I´m gonna build/ put in my car next. So many choices... 7AGE, C20XE, 3SGE or even an SR20DET, all depenging on costs, the power I can get out of every setup with the same money... 1979 Toyota Corolla KE35 1983 Toyota Corolla AE86 1985 Toyota Corolla AE86 |
