early ke70 models have smaller strut diameter than the ae86 or late ke70s. therefore you cant simply insert the popular ae86 short stroke shocks. you need to make a larger diameter strut out of the original ke70 strut, or switch to ae86 strut.
i have done both, converting the oem strut to large diamter tube and fit ae92 shocks in there with 33mm spacer at the bottom (no other way). this was done for my daily ke70 wagon. works well. i did an ae86 strut swap and coilover build for a ke70 coupe driftcar, shortened ae86 strut casing, no spacer at the bottom, ae92 front damper. the car is very low this way and having shitload of suspension travel, about 85% of the whole damper stroke. |
