8s and 9s will take to 225 tires like a charm. On the rears they will be stretched just about enough to get maximum performance out of them, tires work best with just the slightest amount of tension on the sidewall.
225-45-15 should work, 225-50-15 if you need the added gearing. With that said, I do remember r888s being REALLY wide in most sizes. If the 205 is similar you should be able to get it onto the 9.5" rims. Just measure across the thread and check if its a true 205 or a cheater.
