RE: Banpei's new TA60 family cruiser
Insert massive timelapse here!
So I didn't go through with the AA63 swap due to time constraints from my side and I decided to import an AE86 from Japan. AA63 got sold to The Doctor who used to for his KE20. Since the Carina was now exposed to the weather, it is deteriorating a bit faster than I hoped for... One of the brake calipers is intermittent (had a breakdown last year), leaking tail light seals and an rusting front fenders. Luckily I found a set of NOS tail lights for sale a few weeks ago including the rubber seals in 100% good condition! When I installed them it turned out that Toyota sold these with light bulbs preinstalled. Surprisingly all 10 the bulbs were still in working condition! Old vs new: As you can see I already tried to stop the leaking with silicone kit some time ago. De-JDMizing: And this is how it's supposed to look in less-JDM form: Rust is really a serious issue now. The front left fender is rusted through to a point where the moulding at the bottom can't hold on any longer, so I had to take it off. So left vs right side now looks like this: I don't think reattach the mouldings after the fenders have been swapped. IMO it looks much better without. 1983 - AE86 Sprinter Trueno - import project 2013 - Honda Civic sport - daily driver 2004 - AEU86 dot ORG - daily domain Support our forum, buy from the AEU86 shop: |
