You can fit the SR5 drum brakes on the AE86 axle and that used to be a popular mod to ensure better lockup at the rear to initiate drifts. The reverse is possible as well as this video outlines:


Also can you elaborate a bit more on that diff code? 282 normally is tied to T282, which is the AE86 axle. I have seen S314, S302 and S292. All those are AE85, Australian SR and USDM SR5 axle codes.
