Nice pics of those adjustable cam pulleys Zax! I would spend the money where it matters more as well. There are plenty cheaper camgears than the hks/toda ones (toda is just way to expensive).
For daily driving you'll probably end up with some wilder cams...272 degree's maybe..I think idle will suck for a daily driver if the cams are more extreme, but then again I'm speaking from zero experience. Your engine guy will probably know what's best from experience. If you use better valve springs and the toyota yaris inner shim buckets you will be good to go with some nice high-lift cams.
