about ShortShifts in general

From my experience, I'm not shure a short shift is really worth the hussle. I have installed the T3 one. Here are the facts:

1. The throw is indeed reduced by a lot.

2. The feel is also improved (feels sloty).

3. Really fast shifting is sometimes impossible (cannot select gear) esp in downshifting (with rev-matching).

4. 4th gear synchro is almost gone 4000kms after full gearbox rebuild.

5. 4th gear sometimes disengages on its own, especially when under stress (upshift on high revs, while going uphill).

6. The box produces scary sounds when it warms up. It sounds like two metal plates grinding against each other whenever the gears are selected.

Just for your information I'm using a metal clutch with the OEM clutch-cover.

Could it be that the guy who rebuilt by gearbox, fucked it up?
Or maybe the short-shifter was badly fitted (I don't see how this could have happened).
Or maybe the decreased throw (55%) has its drawbacks compared to TRDs (33%).
