Yonzie Wrote:Wow. Sweet writeup and awesome car. Respect!

I have a few questions:
* It seems like retractable license plates are big in Japan... Speed cameras? Dumb question
* You have a carbon bonnet and hatch. What about thieves trying to steal the car or parts of it? (Seems like your parking space is out in the open)
* How much for the carbon/alu tri-brace and carbon hood/hatch that can work just like the factory units? (in pm pls Respect! )

And a comment:
You need a horizontal brace fittet to the roll cage to mount your shoulder harnesses to. The current arrangement has the potential to break your back in the worst kind of way (not that the hachi is a very crash-safe car to start out with.)

Retractable plates aren't that big in Japan, no. I wanted to fit it for air flow and also because on odd occasions I may miss a speed camera on the highway. It's a cool thing to have for both the above.

There's no car theft in Japan, really. I've never had a problem in 8 years where ever I've gone. My RX-7 is packed with performance upgrades, etc. and nobody has ever tried to steal anything from it.

Besides, our house is not on a public road, so no traffic passes by it and the Corolla lives right outside (RX-7 in the garage), plus we have a dog. I'll fit a quick release steering wheel boss which is a good theft deterrent as well.

Thanks for the tip on the horizontal bar. Will look into getting one or fitting the mounts further back.
